Words and music event at St Michael’s Parish Church, Coxwold marking the opening of the “Eliza Draper – An Absent Presence” part of the Precious Cargo Exhibition at Shandy Hall. Beginning with the meeting of Laurence Sterne and Eliza Draper, “Hope Shortens All Journies” tells the story of an affair of the heart, a series of intimate letters, a locket and a sea voyage from England to India in 1767.
Rum and ginger wine will be served in the Interval.
Arrive early and look round the exhibition, Shandy Hall – home of the 18th century novelist Laurence Sterne - and the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Coxwold
