Terminus Passchendaele

In 1996, Piet devised a new form of Peace Concert - Terminus Passchendaele.  London buses had been used to transport troops in Flanders at the start of the war, so Piet created a format which involved taking an audience in two South Yorkshire double decker buses hear songs, readings and poems about the battle of Passchendaele on the actual sites they referred to.

Again including specially commissioned works from Lester and Jim, popular and traditional songs, the concert won the Belgian Touring Association Award and the King Baudoin Foundation Award and was featured on television and radio in Belgium and Holland. It also led to an invitation for the band to  The End of the World - a three hour words and music production about the poetry and music of the Great War broadcast live on BRT Radio 3, Belgium (this is the equivalent in approach and content to BBC Radio 3.)   Music from Terminus Passchendaele and newly written songs were performed in a special Peace Concert given in Tyne Cott Cemetery featuring Coope Boyes & Simpson, Willem Vermandere and Panta Rhei.
